Revolver

"The Beatles" could be arguably the best band of all time. Their creative style and study of all types of music show throughout their music and has created a household name that will last forever. Their sound before the release of the album "Revolver" was pretty much all about or topics relating to love and girls. The experimentation of LSD by the John Lennon played a big part in the creation of the album entitled "Revolver". The Beatles also became very fund the new technology that allowed for automatic double tracking of vocals called "ADT" and used it on nearly every track on the new album (Howard, 2004, p. 22, 23).  The use of compressors also helped to shape the sound of this album. It allowed for the drums to be more out front in the mix and more noticeable than ever before. They pushed the studio boundaries by using it and its equipment in ways never attempted in making the studio like an instrument itself. The revolving Leslie speaker, snippets of home recordings added to the mix, and microphone placements on drums were all influential and played important roles to the sound created on the "Revolver" album. Backwards tape loops was an innovation that was stumbled across by accident. Both George Martin and John Lennon claim to have come up with this idea, but we are sure that it was a member within the band who brought this new technique to wax and applied it musically to the creation process. Effects, instruments, and vocals were all reversed with this new method in order to help create an unforgettable sound. Another studio trick that the Beatles came across was the doubling effect of guitars and this made for a thicker sound and twangy guitar effect. As a listener, this album takes you on a ride through time by all of the different genres of music. As an industry professional, it makes me think of how great students of music that were easily able to employ different musical instruments and genres into one song or even one album and turn it all into a remarkable sound.
